Spyderco Knives introduces the long awaited Native series of folding lock blade
knives. This family of knives was designed to be truly native for any cutting task. The particular Native model received for this review was the fully serrated SP41SBK.
The Spyderco Native Blade
The Native blade is hollow ground and is constructed of GIN-1 stainless steel in a spear point pattern. Spyderco added a false edge to reduce the weight. There are some traction notches on the tang of the Spyderco Native to provide a comfortable thumb rest. When opened, the blade and handle of the Spyderco Native form a comfortable grip permitting the user to exert precise control during demanding cutting tasks. This grip allows the Native to feel like an extension of the user's hand.

The Native is the perfect folding knife for daily carry as a working folder, for many reasons. The Zytel handle keeps the weight down while the traction patterns on the handle keep your hand from slipping. Spyderco Knives says that this bi-directional pattern eliminates hand slipping, forward or backward. The
Native features a reversible metal clip that is held secure by a specially designed fastener that also serves as the lanyard hole. The clip can be moved easily from either side of the knife, in order to suit either hand. This is done with a coin or screwdriver. The handle of the Native fits comfortably within the hand even in a tight grip. A large finger well provides a place to rest the index finger and allows a perfect grip.

Native Evaluation
Cardboard: Cardboard is a regular test used to test the ability of a blade to maintain an edge. The factory edge of the Native allowed it to cut through quarter in cardboard with ease. After approximately 50 to 60 cuts, the edge will dull requiring more force to continue cutting.
Carrying the
Native around is very simple and handy. The weight is minimal making the Native comfortable to clip to the top of the pocket. I carried the Native

clipped inside the front of my jean waistband keeping it concealed from public view. I actually forget it is there. Also, the Native is a rocker bar lock blade and does allow a very smooth open and close.
Final Thoughts on the Native
The Native is very versatile lightweight knife created masterfully by Spyderco Knives. I have no complaints about the Native and think anyone would be happy to own one.
